WE HAVE A NEW WEB SITE!

Wellcome to our new website! Its been a hot few weeks of WordPress hell hear in the Surgery! But basically we’ve re-building the site to make it easier to find stuff. There’s currently over well over 60 different project posts covering film, installation, performance and artwork from almost 15 years of work now.. We hope you enjoy the site if your a new visitor or find it more user friendly if you’ve been before.. There’s a load of nice new features, lovely visual menu’s which make it easier to browse our projects, a simple concertina menu system to refine your searches. Easy links to all our favorite social networks and channels on Vimeo and Youtube. A special new “in Development” category where we will be announcing new projects that are in the pipeline along with ones we hope to get off the grown and may require your help! We’ve also decided to add an “Art” or “Commercial” colour code to the site and you can toggle between these global catagories at the top right hand corner of the site – allowing you to view all of our work from either perspective. So – we hope you enjoy the site and please subscribe to our newsletter to keep up to date on all things Light Surgeons. Be sure to watch this space as new work will be add on a regular bases now we promise!

LATE EVENT @ MUSEUM OF LONDON / FRIDAY 25TH 6-9PM

To celebrate the London Festival of Architecture The Light Surgeons are hosting a special late event at the Museum of London on Friday 25th of June from 6-9pm, enterance is free! Come and see our new installation LDN24, enjoy a drink and explore the new Gallieries of Modern London after hours. Should be a exciting evening of bingo, film, music and visual art.

Our new media art commission “LDN24″ for the Sackler Hall at the Museum of London is now open to the public and its FREE! So please go down and check it out along with all the other exhibits in the newly re-opened modern galleries. We are giving a special talk at 1pm on Sunday the 13th in the Museum’s cinema space about the ideas and processes that went into making the peice. More info about that can be found here.

EXHIBITION

Audio visual installation produced in collaboration with Ron Arad associates and commissioned by fashion company Notify for the Pitti Uomo 77 mens fashion fair in Florence in 2010. The project explores the various manufacturing processes involved in the production of Notify jeans and shoes.

LDN24 @ THE MUSEUM OF LONDON

We are very proud to announce that our new installation LDN24 for the Sackler Hall at The Museum of London will open to the public on the 28th of May, along with the re-opening of the museums Galleries of Modern London.

CRAFTCUBE

CraftCube initiative presents new and exciting ways of displaying, interpreting and accessing contemporary craft with a focus on new technology.

The programme has been developed to showcase objects from the Crafts Council Collection – CraftCube: Collection – and to champion the work of Research Fellows that are at the cutting edge of contemporary practice – CraftCube: Research. Each CraftCube is an individual display environment, including objects and interpretation.

CRAFTCUBE: GRAY TWISTED LOOP | Merete Rasmussen

The film features a set of two synchronized short films which reveal the ceramic processes involved in the creation of the piece entitled “Twisted Grey Loop” . Put together by The Light Surgeons they form the audio visual content produced for the Craft Council’s set of touring installations, know as The CraftCube initiative.

In this instant, the film on the top was projected onto a large projection surface on the wall of the CraftCube, while the film on the bottom was presented through large plasma screen embedded into the surface of a display case, which also houses the finished object its self.

The film features a set of two synchronized short films which together protrait the processes involved in the creation of a piece of her worked entitled “NAP”. Put together by The Light Surgeons they form the audio visual content produced for the Craft Council’s set of touring installations, know as The CraftCube initiative.
